Gunite Corp. has introduced a new dual-step-piloted brake drum that uses the hub’s wheel pilot to help align the drum onto the hub’s brake drum pilot.

The company say the bi-level piloting system helps to install and seat the brake drum quickly and accurately during routine wheel-end maintenance procedures and helps eliminate damage to the hub pilots during installation-a common problem with aluminum hubs. Additionally, the company says DSP drums insure proper alignment, eliminating excessive run-out that causes the brakes to pulsate on application and results in less-than-peak performance of both the linings and the drums.
