EPA launches financing website

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership is unveiling a new web-based clearinghouse targeted towards buyers of clean trucks and other emissions-cutting and fuel-saving technologies.

SmartwayFinanceCenter.com is a web-based finance clearinghouse where the user can submit one application and have multiple lenders compete for their business. Private lenders are consolidated into one network where they can view applications from buyers seeking cleaner and more fuel-efficient trucks and equipment.

The application is free. Once you submit your application, lenders send you their offers. You pick the best offer for you.

The website also contains information on technology such as idle reduction, aerodynamics, fuel-saving wheels/tires, and SmartWay certified tractors and trailers, including listings of companies offering these products.

The SmartWay Transport Partnership is a voluntary partnership between various freight industry sectors and EPA that establishes incentives for fuel efficiency improvements and greenhouse gas emissions reductions. There are three primary components of the program: creating partnerships, reducing all unnecessary engine idling, and increasing the efficiency and use of rail and intermodal operations.
