FortisBC Pushes Natural Gas Adoption with Incentive Program

KELOWNA, BC — How’s this for incentive?

FortisBC is providing companies with up to 75 percent of the incremental costs of converting their fleets to compressed natural gas (CNG).

The 2013 Natural Gas Vehicle Incentive Program for Compressed Natural Gas opened yesterday, Fortis announced. Deadline for applications is May 31, 2013.

Any owner or lessor of eligible vehicles in British Columbia within the FortisBC service area can apply, provided 75 percent of your fleet operates within BC. Naturally, there are more application requirements, which can be viewed here.

In the meantime, Fortis is holding a conference call on April 15, 2013 at 10 a.m PST to answer any questions you may have. Email ngt@fortisbc.com for dial-in information.

Fortis also noted that a similar incentive program is in development for conversion to liquefied natural gas (LNG) pending approval by the British Columbia Utilities Commission.
