Freightliner Columbia DX

Freightliner will offer a deluxe edition of its Columbia truck model called the Columbia DX. Among the exterior treatments, interior additions, and ride and performance enhancements are dual cab-mounted stacks and LED marker lights that run along the side fairings, along the cab and sleeper, and into the chromed sun visor. Inside, there’s upgraded trim and options that include the “Driver’s Lounge,” a fold-down table and seating arrangement that creates an office or dinette. A noise-reduction package cuts three decibels by way of insulation in the cab, floors, walls, firewall and storage bins, plus full hood and doghouse liners. Ride enhancements include the leaf-and-half front suspension first shown last year.

Available cab and sleeper configurations include 70-, 58-, and 48-inch variations, plus a day cab. The Columbia in general has a 120-inch BBC aluminum cab with a set-back front axle, engines up to 600 hp, and an integrated electronics package that manages vehicle operation.

If you’re in a jurisdiction where Freightliner’s Coronado tractor is too long, this one may be the answer. It’s not as plush, but it’s similar.
