TORONTO, Ont. — Truck orders continue their record-breaking pace this year, with the analysts at FTR expecting North American Class 8 truck production to reach 315,000 units in 2018. Next year the numbers are expected to reach 340,000 units. And recent truck sales figures from WardsAuto reinforce the promise of strong numbers.

Freightliner led Canada’s Class 8 market with 26.8% of the 2,790 sales in August, but fell below its year-to-date market share of 31%.

International held 40.7% of the 747-unit Class 7 sales for the month. Hino topped the Class 6 sales in August, at 45.7% of 92 trucks sold, while Ford dominated Class 5 rankings with 44.5% of the 564 sales.
