PORTLAND, Ore. — Help continues to pour in for victims of the recent hurricanes along the U.S. Gulf Coast and Freightliner has chipped in by supplying a truck and trailer.

The equipment was used to deliver a load of vital supplies to affected areas in Louisiana and Mississippi, the company announced. The truck was a 2005 Freightliner Century Class S/T and it pulled a load of medical, cleaning and school supplies donated by Northwest Medical Teams.

Freightliner also provided the drivers and paid for all the fuel required along the way.

“Freightliner Trucks wanted to do our part to help these fellow Americans in need,” said Jonathan Randall, director of marketing, Freightliner Trucks. “We had the truck and the trailer. We decided to put them to good use and transport these much-needed supplies to those affected by the hurricane.”

The company had already donated $100,00 to the U.S. Red Cross following the hurricanes.

“But the people need supplies that simply aren’t available and cannot be bought at local stores. We are happy to deliver to them what they so desperately need at this time,” Randall added.
