MARKHAM, Ont. — Highland Transport, one of Canada’s largest truckload carriers, has joined the increasing number of fleets to launch an in-house logistics company.

“Highland has always been a customer focused company” says president Norm Sneyd. “By providing a third party logistics service to our customers, we further build on our focus and commitment.”

Highland Logistics will also provide logistics services to non-Highland customers throughout North America. These services include, full truckload and less-than-truckload shipments, freight forwarding, intermodal, ocean and air freight as well as warehousing and distribution functions.

Customers will be able to more effectively and efficiently move goods between Canada, U.S., Europe and Asia, according to the company. Real time customer monitoring of their goods will be available online in the immediate future.

Highland Logistics also offers end-to-end, customized, third party consulting services. The company, with facilities in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver will be the responsibility of Jim Hale-Sanders, a well known transportation industry veteran, who has signed on as the general manager

“It is my intent to make Highland Logistics a force to be reckoned with in the marketplace”, says Hale-Sanders, who will be based in the company’s head office in Markham, Ont.

“We have both the financial resources of Highland Transport — a company that has been in business for over 35 years — and the Highland Transport reputation for integrity and for providing a top notch ISO 9002 registered quality service.”
