International Rolls Out 8600 For Regional Hauls

International Truck and Engine rolled out its 8600-model tractor, the newest member of the company’s “High Performance Truck” family.

The 8600 is aimed at regional haulers and will replace the company’s 8100 and 9100 model tractors. It is available in both 4×2 and 6×4 configurations.

The truck is designed to make the driver’s job less taxing. The 107-inch bumper-to-back of-cab length, 46-inch setback wide track front axle, 50-degree wheel cut, and high-pressure power steering pump make it easier to manoeuvre around loading docks. Among the options is a 26-inch extended cab with a bunk that lifts up and provides 9 cubic feet of storage space under the mattress.

The truck is also designed to perform in the service bay. Driver and passenger side splash shields tilt up and away with the hood, and the easy-to-remove chrome grill also adds to the ease of engine access. A multiplexed electrical system eliminates 40% of the wiring in the dash panels.

The International 8600 is available for order now and will begin full production this September.
