Just call him Dr. Pre-trip; Alta man wins top inspection prize

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — A Canadian has been named the top commercial vehicle inspector in North America.

The North American Inspectors Championships (NAIC ) were held recently in this Minnesota city and commercial vehicle inspectors representing nearly every state, province and Mexican jurisdiction competed.

James Trombley, a CVSA-certified North American Standard Level I inspector with Inspection Services Alberta was awarded the Grand Champion Award for his combined performances in six competition elements across North American Standard Level I Inspection and North American Standard HAZMAT/Transportation of Dangerous Goods Inspection.

Fifty-four CVSA-certified North American Standard Level I roadside inspectors competed in the 15th annual Championship: seven inspectors represented Canada (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan); two inspectors represented Mexico-SCT; and 45 represented the US.

NAIC is the only event dedicated to recognizing and rewarding commercial vehicle inspector excellence and has been recognized by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) as an event that “Advances America.”

CVSA is an international not-for-profit organization comprised of local, state, provincial, territorial and federal motor carrier safety officials and industry representatives from the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
