SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — The Province of Saskatchewan has tendered out two projects to improve a rough 41-km stretch of Hwy. 32 near Swift Current.

The projects are part of a 165-km "grade and pave" initiative to rebuild battered highways, according to the Southwest Booster newspaper.

The two Hwy. 32 projects include a 21-km 20 section west of Shackleton to west of Lancer, and a 20-km stretch from Grid 649 at Lemsfort to Prelate.

Other projects include:

Three bridge replacements along the TransCanada west of Chaplin; a 56 km resurfacing project on the TransCanada west of Swift Current to Webb, from Highway #1 to Success, plus other medium projects near Swift Current and Beverley; and a 20-km TransCanada resurfacing project on the eastbound lanes from 5 km west of Piapot to Sidewood.

This 2008 tender is the largest release in provincial history.
