Manitoba closes medical reporting gap for drivers

WINNIPEG — Manitoba Public Insurance now requires Truckers in the province to file more frequent medical reports.

Like most other jurisdiction in North Amreica, medical reports now have to be filed on applications for all holders of Class 1 through 4 driver’s licences every five years to age 45, every three years to age 64, and annually for those 65 years and older.

Ontario, however, is the only province or state that gives drivers over 65 an annual on-road test.

Previously, Manitoba only required drivers 18-40 to submit reports every 10 years; every five years for drivers aged 41-60; and every two years for drivers 61 and older.

Bob Dolyniuk of the Manitoba Trucking Association applauded the move. He told Canadian press the change will save time and money for truckers driving into the U.S. since they no longer have to a separate report for the U.S.
