WINNIPEG, Man. — The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) presented Manitoba Driver of the Month awards for July, August and September to three professional truck drivers at a reception in Winnipeg Nov. 23

Driver of the Month Awards recognize professional drivers whose careers demonstrate excellent driving skills, exemplary safety records, outstanding customer service and a dedication to the profession.

The three outstanding drivers honoured Friday together have contributed over 46 years and 8.7 million km of driving.

Driver of the Month for July 2007 is John Fehr, a professional driver for 19 years. During that time, Fehr has driven over 3.6 million accident-free kilometres of highway across Canada and the US. Fehr drives for Penner International and lives in Steinbach.

Driver of the Month for August 2007 is Henry Doerksen. A highway driver for 14 years, Doerksen has logged over 2.5 million accident-free kilometres across Canada and the US. Doerksen also drives for Penner International and lives in Blumenort.

Driver of the Month for September 2007 is Roy Shaw, a professional driver for 13 years. In that time he had accumulated 2.6 million accident-free kilometres of highway and city driving in Canada and the US. Shaw drives for Arnold Bros. Transport and lives in Woodlands.

MTAs Driver of the Month awards have recognized outstanding Manitoba drivers since 1979. Custom Truck Sales and Canadian Kenworth have sponsored these awards since 1991.

MTA president Clayton Gording of Reimer Express Lines hosted Fridays event and Jim Clark of Custom Truck Sales presented the awards.
