MTO announces 401 upgrades

SOUTH GLENGARRY, Ont. — The Ontario government is upgrading Hwy. 401 in the Township of South Glengarry by rebuilding a 15-km stretch from County Road 2 and 34 to the Quebec border.

The work will also include repairing four bridges on the 401 at Westley Creek and Wood Creek in the Town of Lancaster; and upgrading the east and westbound ramps at the County Road 2 and 34 interchange.

The $17.7-million job is scheduled to begin in the spring, with completion expected by fall 2006. During construction, traffic on Highway 401 will be reduced to one lane in each direction from June until September of 2006.
