New Brunswick announces spring weight restrictions

FREDERICTON (Feb. 26) — New Brunswick will impose spring weight restrictions on public roads in the southern region of the province starting March 7, according to a preliminary release from the Dept. of Transportation.

The restrictions will begin earlier than usual because of the effects of warm weather on road surfaces.

Restrictions in Zone A (southern New Brunswick) are scheduled to begin at midnight, March 7, and end by May 23. Restrictions in Zone B (northern New Brunswick) would start at midnight, March 14, and be lifted by May 30.

The dates are dependent upon weather conditions and subject to change, the DOT said. A more detailed notice will appear in local newspapers prior to March 7.

Earlier this week, Nova Scotia released its schedule of spring weight restrictions, which begin March 1.
