New digs triple capacity for TST Overland western ops

MONTREAL — TransForce says it has purchased a new 52-door cross-dock terminal in Calgary to support the growth of its TST Overland Express subsidiary in western Canada.

The new terminal will more than triple the capacity of the LTL carrier.

"We are continuing to invest in our operations in Western Canada because of the region’s economic strength and growth potential," said Alain Bédard, chairman, president and CEO for TransForce.

"This new terminal enables TST Overland to deliver expanded services in and out of Calgary, which is a major gateway for shipments within Western Canada as well as to and from the United States."

The move will complement several recent service improvements made by TST, such as added direct line hauls from Dallas to Calgary, a key route for many oil industry customers.

The new service reduces freight handling and transit times from origin to destination and is expected to result in increased volumes for TST Overland, which will be handled by the new Calgary terminal.
