Ontario IRP credentials aren’t really expired

QUEEN’S PARK, Ont. — The Government of Ontario has once again asked all International Registration Plan (IRP) members to honor Ontario credentials until Aug. 2.

Ontario sent a message to its North American counterparts explaining that even though the Ontario Public Services Employees Union strike has ended, there is a substantial backlog of processing. As a result, the regulatory extensions for existing IRP credentials remain in place.

Ontario told the other jurisdictions that it expects all vehicles to have valid IRP credentials by the first Friday in August. Ontario will continue issuing temporary IRP cab cards to carriers in the interim.
