Ontario puts road reports on line

TORONTO (Jan. 14) — As another snowfall threatens to wreak havoc with the province’s highways, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation said it would post information on winter road conditions at its Web site.

Reports will be updated four times a day, seven days a week, at approximately 6 a.m., noon, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. They provide snapshots of conditions on major routes and some secondary highways across the province.

The Ministry said the site is designed to complement the existing province-wide road information telephone service. Winter road condition information will be available until March 30, 1999, when road construction information will take its place.
