P.E.I. gets $2.7M for infrastructure

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Federal Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon was in P.E.I. this week to announce $270 million in federal funding for capital projects on P.E.I.

While specific projects weren’t detailed, the cash, which will flow over seven years, will go towards roads, bridges, ‘green’ energy, as well as water and wastewater projects and a system to improve broadband internet access on the island.

The money comes through Ottawa’s Building Canada Plan.
