Penske Adds 500 New Auto Transmission Semi-Tractors

READING, PA — Penske Truck Rental will be adding 500 new semi-tractors featuring improved automated transmissions to its fleet of more than 50,000 units.

The new Freightliner semi-tractors will have Eaton’s UltraShift PLUS Multipurpose High Performance (MHP) Automated Transmissions, which uses an electronic clutch actuator to allow faster shifting and smoother engagement.

Don Mikes, Vice President of Penske Rental says that the automated transmissions lead to better fuel economy and greater safety for drivers.

Penske’s fleet includes sleeper and day cab semi-tractors, straight trucks, flatbeds, refrigerated vans, trailers and now these 500 new vehicles.
