PeopleNet growing evenly

CHASKA, Minn. — Mobile communications and onboard computing provider PeopleNet says its business growth in 2006 was split evenly between for-hire trucking and private fleet segments.

The company said it signed 197 new fleet customers last year.

Ron Konezny, PeopleNet’s CEO, says total revenue increased by more than 30 percent in multiple trucking segments, “reflecting the diversity of use for the highly configurable and capable g3 system.”

New fleets were distributed across dry van, tanker, refrigerated, flatbed, dedicated, LTL and specialty carriers. Nearly a third of new units signed converted from older, first generation onboard computing or mobile communications systems, Konezny notes.

PacTrac, the PeopleNet and PacLease joint solution offering, also attracted solid market interest, adding more than 30 new customers to its database.

The new g3 Services Application enables customers and business partners to access PeopleNet onboard resources through a standard serial or USB port. That opens the PeopleNet system to integration with virtually any third party solution — a particular benefit for specialized fleets, says the company.

PeopleNet also announced the development to update its eDriver Logs application to deal with complex new hours-of-service rules in Canada, and premiered a number of technology upgrades.
