Pricing Index jumps in November: ACT Research

by Truck News

COLUMBUS, Ind. – According to ACT Research’s latest for-hire trucking index, improvements seen in the last few months have continued in November.

The pricing index reached its highest reported number in the past twelve months, with a reading of 55.1.

“The improvement in pricing reflects generally better economic reports the past few months, to include freight related variables tracked by ACT,” said Kenny Vieth, president and senior analyst at ACT Research.

Twenty-three percent of respondents reported modest gains in pricing, with 67% seeing no change in revenue per mile.

In addition, for the sixth time in the past seven months, the freight index rose faster than the capacity index. While the changes remain small, the data suggest that the process of rebalancing capacity with freight continues to move in the right direction.
