Saskatchewan upgrades to toll free service for truckers

SASKATOON — A new Saskatchewan toll-free telephone number was officially launched to make it easier for truckers and commercial carriers to get regulation information and technical advice.

“I’m pleased to see the ministry taking into account industry feedback by upgrading this existing service,” said Wayne Elhard, Minister of Highways and Infrastructure. “Getting rid of the long-distance costs will make it easier for commercial carriers across Saskatchewan to get the information they need before going on the road so they have an even safer and more efficient operation.”

A transport investigator for the new, 1-866-933-5290 Transport Compliance Branch Inquiry Line began receiving calls in early December.

The existing Saskatoon-based inquiry line started in 2000 and can still be used by Saskatoon callers or commercial carriers from outside Saskatchewan. The existing number was receiving about 4,000 inquiries annually.

The inquiry line operates weekdays, except statuary holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
