GREEN BAY, Wis. — Schneider National has announced it’s equipping its entire company fleet with PrePassPlus, an electronic scale and toll plaza pre-clearance system.

The carrier says it’s one of only a handful of carriers to fully adopt the technology, which uses transponders to allow drivers to bypass scales and toll booths throughout the U.S. It says the new program will be rolled out through the entire fleet by this fall.

“Schneider National is 100 per cent committed to driver satisfaction and eliminating down time,” said Wayne Lubner, vice-president of driver and contractor relations at Schneider National. “The use of PrePassPlus will benefit company drivers and independent contractors and is one component of a series of improvements Schneider National has implemented to improve the quality of life for drivers.”

Schneider officials say the company’s drivers are already raving about the PrePass system which allows them to bypass scales.

“PrePass allows me to get to my clients a little earlier and has resulted in less frustration from waiting in line at a toll booth or scale,” driver Jack Russell said. “A little thing like this goes a long way in improving driver attitude. Investing fleet wide in PrePass was a very smart move on the part of Schneider.”

The ‘Plus’ component of PrePassPlus refers to the participants’ ability to automatically and electronically pay tolls through the E-ZPass network of toll booths.
