Some Marine Atlantic ferries not working today

ST. JOHN’S, NL- Stormy conditions in the Maritimes have disrupted many modes of transportation including air and vessel.
Maritime truckers are warned that some ferries have been cancelled and more will likely be affected.

Cancelled:

• Port aux Basques to North Sydney Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:45

Potential impact for:

• North Sydney to Port aux Basques Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:45 and 23:45
• Port aux Basques to North Sydney Monday, March 16, at 23:45

The North Sydney to Port aux Basques and the Port aux Basques to North Sydney ferry departures were also cancelled this past Sunday, March 15.
Marine Atlantic spokesperson, Darrell Mercer, said ice is delaying the ferries.
Last week, the Canadian Coast Guard gave Marine Atlantic a large icebreaker, which was used to help the Lief Ericson when it became stuck just off Cape Breton.
But the Maritimes are in for more ice for the Gulf of St. Lawrence today, tonight and Tuesday March 17, 2015, according to Environment Canada weather forecasters.
