Speedy’s Barran named Toronto Regional Truck Driving Championships Grand Champ
The Toronto Regional Truck Driving Championships (TRTDC) returned to the parking lot of the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ont., May 25, and a familiar face took the top prize.
Rennie Barran of Speedy Transport was crowned Grand Champion. He won the provincial championships in 2013, a competition that will be held in September with winners of the TRTDC competing against those from other regional and company-held contests.
Rookie of the Year honors went to William Bigelow of Laidlaw Carriers Bulk, and Speedy Transport claimed the Team Trophy.
Individual category winners went to: James Jr. Smith, Speedy Transport, Straight Truck; Shawn Pietracupa, XPO, Single-Single; Sebastian Tatar, XPO, Single-Tandem; and Barran, Speedy Transport, Tandem-Tandem.
