Toronto sufferance truck terminal closes up shop

TORONTO — The Canada Border Services Agency is closing a major highway sufferance truck terminal in Greater Toronto this fall.

Effective Nov. 30, 2006, the Toronto Sufferance Truck Terminal (port 499 at 2055 Kennedy Rd) Inc. will be surrendering its highway sufferance warehouse licence and closing its warehouse.

CBSA has decided not to advertise for a new highway sufferance warehouse at this port. Warehouse operators currently being serviced by port 499 should make other arrangements. In addition, all bonded carriers transporting in-bond commercial highway freight destined for clearance at this facility must report to one of the following highway sufferance warehouses as of December 1, 2006:

Port 430 — Coburn’s Transportation Systems, 1901 Forbes Street, Whitby, Ont.; Port 495 — Transcargo Centre, 3210 Airway Drive, Mississauga, Ont.; or Port 496 — TFI Transport 8 L.P. (Interport), 5425 Dixie Road, Mississauga, Ont.
