Transport Minister proposes reappointment of Blue Water Bridge Authority president

OTTAWA, Ont. — Transport Minister Jean-C. Lapierre has proposed the appointment of Dan M. Elash of London, Ont. as president and CEO of the Blue Water Bridge Authority. The proposed appointment will be referred to the Standing Committee on Transport for review.

“I am pleased to recommend that Mr. Elash serve again as president and CEO for the Blue Water Bridge Authority, an important economic link with our neighbours,” Lapierre said. “His experience is an asset to the board.”

The Blue Water Bridge Authority is responsible for the management and operation of the Canadian side of the Blue Water Bridge. The Michigan Department of Transportation owns and operates the American side.

Elash is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He is currently the president and CEO of the Blue Water Bridge Authority in Point Edward, Ont. and is also an active member of the Canadian Institute of Management and of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. He has served as director of engineering and operations at Sarnia Hydro Electrical Commission, president of the Municipal Electric Association District 8, director of the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Sarnia/Point Edward Energy Efficient Community project, co-chair of the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee and Energy Committee steering committee and director of the International Bridge, Tunnel & Turnpike Association in Washington, DC.
