Trucking’s woes shared with Megan Fox fans

TORONTO — So what do you get when you cross a truck driver with a pretty young movie star?

Google “Megan Fox Syndrome” and you’ll find the answer. Rather, finish this story first.

And then tell your colleagues about it because the Megan Fox Syndrome story is a warning lesson in Internet 101, and that is: “Once you put something out on the web, it is no longer yours.”

It’s a lesson that everybody in your company who goes near the Internet should have engraved on their spacebar.

Here’s why: In August, we ran a story about a survey that showed American truck drivers often feel unappreciated. Chief among their bellyaches: “They don’t get the respect they deserve.”

For some reason that shall remain a mystery, the todaystrucking.com writer that day also knew that Megan Fox, the beautiful star of “Jennifer’s Body” and “Transformers,” feels she deserves more serious roles.

The coincidence clicked. Our writer coined “Megan Fox Syndrome,” the movie star and the truckers found themselves married in a headline, and days later “Survey Sez: Truckers dealing with Megan Fox Syndrome” was, as they say, “all over the Internet.”

Other trucking sites ran the story. Fox-specific sites used versions. Lovelymeganfox.com ran it as was.

The pop culture website www.urbandictionary.com upped the ante with a definition: The Megan Fox Syndrome is “when an actress continues to land eye-candy roles over more serious roles.”

If this keeps going, “Megan Fox Syndrome” is going to appear on Obama’s list of medical ailments people think they need insurance coverage for.

And to think it all started here.

Says the todaystrucking.com writer who started the whole thing: “Knowing I’ve made such a valuable contribution to our culture and industry, I can at last die happy. Not.”

One more thing.

As soon as you get to the end of this story, you no longer have a legit excuse to be looking at Megan Fox on your office computer.
