Trucks to the Rescue: DuraStar Built for Disaster Relief

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Navistar unveiled a new International DuraStar with a focus on aid and disaster relief.

It’s a multi-purpose vehicle equipped with a water purification system, firefighting capabilities and even a mobile medical unit for emergency rescue operations.

“This state-of-the-art multi-purpose vehicle provides a critical resource to aid disaster relief efforts around the world,” said Tom Clevinger, Navistar senior vice president, Global Truck and Bus. “The first of its kind in the industry, this truck can serve as a life-saving tool.”

Developed with Navistar’s humanitarian partner, Terranova, the International DuraStar MPV is equipped with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified microbiological water purifier, which can clean as much as 5,000 gallons of drinking water a day. The water purifier can remove bacteria, virus and cyst from any water source including ponds, rivers and lakes. rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, shallow wells, groundwater under the direct influence of surface water, rain water, unsafe municipal supplies and springs.
