Vital ice road opens late in NWT

WRIGLEY, N.W.T. — The N’Dulee Ice Road on the Mackenzie River that connects Wrigley, N.W.T., to the rest of the territory is now open to light traffic.

According to CBC, the opening had been delayed for three months because ice was slow to form on the river, making the route unpredictable for heavier vehicles and supply trucks.

About 120 people have been isolated from the rest of the territory since October.
