Volvo Taps Telogis and Trimble for Deeper Telematics

GREENSBORO, NC. — Volvo Trucks North America has announced a memorandum of agreement with both Telogis and Trimble, the company announced late today.

Volvo said that it is the first OEM to enter into a collaborative business agreement with fleet management service providers, and that the relationship will offer customers “increased flexibility as they optimize the performance of their fleets using the Telogis platform and Trimble, owner of PeopleNet, range of applications.”

“The combination of Volvo’s Remote Diagnostics and the Telogis platform will deliver increased uptime, safety and operational efficiencies for Volvo customers,” said Jason Koch, co-founder and president, Telogis Fleet. “Through this collaboration, we are bringing together two leading brands in our respective spaces with the goal of having a profound effect on the industry.”

PeopleNet President Brian McLaughlin said that they were proud to work with Volvo, “a like-minded company.” He added that “the configurability of the PeopleNet system will enable a deeper integration between their vehicles and our mobile fleet management applications.”

Volvo was one of the first OEMs to offer a telematics solution. This agreement, Volvo said, will help them stay ahead of the curve in connected vehicle and fleet management services.
