Wajax Expands In The East

MONTREAL — Wajax Industrial Components has purchased the Ace Hydraulic Ltd. facility in Bathurst, NB.

Based out of Lachine, QC, Wajax manufactures industrial components such as bearings, cylinders, hoists, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, power transmission products (among others) for various types of markets—from agriculture to steel and mining operations.

In an officlal statement, Wajax said the takeover of the Ace facility will enhance their hydraulic repair and service support to mining, forestry and other industrial businesses throughout Atlantic Canada and the Quebec North Shore.

Barry Sutherby, vice-president of Wajax Hydraulic Systems and Services, said he was extremely impressed with the Ace Hydraulic team’s attitude, drive and enthusiasm.

“They are very passionate about what they do, and they have that ‘can-do’ spirit,” he said.

Ace Hydraulic’s Bathurst location employs 16 staff consisting of NFPA-certified technicians, machinists, welders and millwrights who service various types of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

Founded in 1987, Ace Hydraulic began repairing hydraulic pumps, valves and motors, as well as rebuilding and fabricating cylinders with one-to-24-in. bores. In November 2011, the facility doubled in size by adding 6,000 sq ft of space.

Sutherby added that hydraulic offerings will soon be expanded to include brands such as Eaton, Hawe, Schroeder, Magnetek and High Country Tek.

Retiring Ace Hydraulic President Leon Thériault had kind words for his colleagues and staff.

“I want to thank our employees, customers and suppliers for building Ace Hydraulic into what it is today,” he said. “I think this is a perfect fit for everybody.”
