Webinar series to focus on youth engagement

OTTAWA, ON – Trucking HR Canada is launching a new webinar series developed for Human Resources (HR) personnel and those in the on-road transportation industry seeking to gain more insight and tips on how to attract young people to the industry.

With millennials making up the bulk of the current Canadian workforce, they’re still largely under-represented in the trucking industry. In fact, according to Trucking HR Canada, between 2006 and 2011 the share of drivers aged 25-34 dropped to 15% from 18%.

The webinar series will explain some of the findings behind recent industry surveys on youth engagement and will offer some practical things fleet HR staff can do to better engage young people in the workplace.

“It is critical that trucking employers have a plan in place for the recruitment and retention of young people,” says Angela Splinter, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trucking HR Canada. “We are working to provide practical and relevant tips and insights for trucking employers.”

The first webinar of the series is scheduled for April 26, at 12 p.m. and those interested in learning more or registering can visit truckingHR.com.
