Westen Star LowMax turns heads

Western Star Trucks has introduced a low-profile version of its Western Star 4900 EX heavy-duty tractor. The 4900 EX LowMax has a minimum overall height of just over 104 inches-with the cab lights and horns removed and with low-profile 275/70 R22.50-inch tires. Standard equipment includes a 1,300-square inch cross-flow radiator for optimum engine cooling. A low-ride-height front suspension and 6.38-inch ride height AirLiner rear suspension contribute to the low-profile design. The Dana Spicer E-13201 front axle has a five-inch drop. The dual six-inch exhaust stacks feature horizontal low-noise mufflers. In addition, Western Star engineers reduced the frontal area of the truck, creating significant aerodynamic enhancements as well as contributing to the truck’s distinctive look.

The vehicle has a 132-inch bumper-to-back-of-cab dimension and will accommodate a variety of sleeper sizes and roof heights, all arranged to the lowered configuration. Adding to the truck’s characteristic look is an array of chrome and stainless steel accessories available at Western Star dealers.
