Western Star transforms kid’s wish into reality

CALGARY, AB- Optimus Prime showed his heroic side on Thursday morning when he surprised a nine-year-old Calgary boy suffering from a life threatening medical condition.

According to CTV News Calgary, Diego is a big fan of the Transformers saga and made a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation to visit Universal Studios in Florida.  His one wish was to go to Orlando to see the Transformers.

“Diego is going to the theme parks in Florida so he’s extremely excited about that. He doesn’t know yet when he’s going so it’s a bit of a surprise but it’s taken some coordination with our staff and volunteers and working with all our chapters in North America too and in Florida,” said Kim Anthony from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

And who better to tell him the good news but the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime himself, in truck form.

Optimus Prime showed up to Diego’s “Wish Reveal Party”, and once Diego climbed inside the truck’s cab, discovered he would also meet the other Autobots in Florida.

“I’m glad we had an opportunity to do this for Diego. He’ll be down enjoying his wish and see the transformers show in Orlando parks so he’ll have a good time,” said Cindy Clark from Sterling Western Star Trucks Alberta.

The 18-wheeled hero was originally revealed at last year’s Mid-America Trucking Show, this Western Star got its design cues from the real on-highway 5700 XE. The truck appeared as Optimus Prime in the fourth Transformer film, “Age of Extinction.”
