NORTHERN B.C. HIGHWAY EXTENSION APPROVED
VICTORIA, B.C. — A two-lane, 50 km/h all-weather highway extension will provide truckers with access to the northern B.C. villages of Greenville and Kincolith.
The project will begin in May, and is slated for completion in December, 2002.
“A letter of intent has been signed between the Ministry of Transportation and Highways and the contractor chosen for the project, Brentwood Enterprises of Kamloops,” says Highways and Transportation Minister, Helmut Giesbrecht.
“Brentwood and the ministry are negotiating details of a construction agreement aimed at enhancing economic opportunities for the people of the Nass and sharing the risks of this technically challenging project.”
The project also includes the construction of two, single-lane bridges, which will span environmentally sensitive water.
