April Class 8 retail sales strongest in past six months: ACT Research

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Retail sales for Classes 5-8 trucks hit 23,100 units in April, marking the strongest month of the past six, according to the latest State of the Industry report published by ACT Research.

“Class 8 retail sales rose 6% month-over-month to their best reading in six months at 23,100 units, and the strongest sales months of the year are yet to come,” said Steve Tam, vice-president, commercial vehicle sector at ACT Research.

“Classes 5-7 retail sales rose nearly 14% month-over-month to 20,100 units, their highest level since March 2007,” he added. Year-to-date, Class 8 sales are up 9% and Classes 5-7 sales are up 13%.
