Bison helps lay wreaths in Manitoba to honour the fallen

WINNIPEG, Man. – Bison Transport has partnered with several branches of the Canadian Armed Forces, including Winnipeg’s Royal Canadian Air Force 17 Wing, to make possible the second annual Wreaths Across Canada ceremony in Manitoba.

The event will take place Dec. 6 at the Field of Honour in Winnipeg’s Brookside Cemetery, and will be attended by members of the Armed Forces, cadets, The Knights of Columbus and Canadian veterans.

“In line with Bison’s commitment to help Wreaths Across Canada expand this initiative, we continue to work hard to gain the involvement of our industry, the business community at large and individual citizens,” said Rob Penner, president and COO of Bison Transport. “We purchased the wreaths and provided the logistics assistance necessary to deliver the wreaths to the site.”

Two-hundred and sixty wreaths in total were purchased and each will be placed at the beginning of every row of headstones at Brookside Cemetery, where over 11,000 military personnel are buried.

Wreaths Across Canada has been an initiative since 2011, placing wreaths on the headstones of veterans at Beechwood National Military Cemetery in Ottawa, Ont., and they now look to expand the effort to all Canadian military cemeteries.
