Canadian freight costs decreased marginally in September: CGFI

by Truck News

TORONTO, Ont. – Canadian shippers paid 0.4% less for ground transportation costs in September, according to the latest Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI).

The base rate, excluding accessorial charges, was down 0.5%. Fuel made up 11.59% of the base rate in September, down from 11.94% in August.

“Total freight costs decreased marginally in September. The domestic LTL increase was offset by decreases in the other segments. Year-over-year, domestic costs are above last year’s level, and the cross-border costs are well below last year’s costs,” said Doug Payne, president and COO, Nulogx.
