Canadian ground transport rates rose 1.2% in March: CGFI

TORONTO, Ont. — Rates for ground transportation in Canada rose 1.2% in March, according to the latest data from the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI).

Excluding accessorial charges, rates increase 1% compared to February.

Average fuel surcharges rose from 21.53% of the base rate in February to 22.43% in March.

“All segments showed increases, with cross-border LTL leading the way,” said Doug Payne, president and COO, Nulogx. “Total costs (for shippers) are now 1.3% higher than a year ago.”
