EDMONTON, Alta. – This year was Ritchie Bros. largest ever in Edmonton, Alta. selling more than 38,250 equipment items and trucks and garnering over $731 million, with 55% being from online sales.

“We would like to thank all the companies and individuals who bought and sold equipment and trucks with us in 2015—we value your trust in us to deliver results regardless of market conditions,” said Brian Glenn, Ritchie Bros.’ senior vice-president (Western Canada). “This year we sold more equipment at our Edmonton site than ever before. When you’re selling equipment in uncertain local conditions such as these, it becomes even more important to reach buyers from different industry sectors and regions. That’s why sellers turned to Ritchie Bros.—and we delivered. We had record-high bidder turnout in Edmonton all year long, with more than 59,000 total bidder registrations—40% higher than 2014. Our ability to attract the largest crowds in the equipment auction business helped us achieve strong returns for sellers in 2015.”

The most recent auction in Edmonton was held Dec. 10-12, where over 6,000 items worth $98 million were sold, which made it the most successful December auction in Canada for Ritchie Bros., attracting over 9,000 bidders from 46 countries, including 6,100 online.

Ritchie Bros.’ largest Canadian auction ever was held in Edmonton April 28-May 1, selling over 7,700 items for $215 million.

Approximately 55% of all equipment sold in Edmonton in 2015 went to Alberta buyers.

Ritchie Bros. was established in 1958 and is a seller of used equipment for the construction, transportation, agriculture, forestry and other industries.
