The Guarantee Company has officially launched its transportation insurance division, Guarantee Transportation Solution. I think a new player in this market is needed, particularly for small operators or those who specialize in a niche that the current crop of insurers want nothing to do with. And in some cases, they can’t be blamed.

Hey, I’ve been hard on trucking insurers of late, and maybe too much so. They can’t be forced to take on risk they don’t want. But the fact remains, there are few trucking specialists out there. Is The Guarantee a trucking specialist, or another generalist with a transportation division? Time will tell. I know they have a trucking specialist at the helm, in the form of Angelique Magi.

One thing’s for sure, the trucking industry will likely benefit from the added competition.
