LOUISVILLE, Ky – ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) business announced the addition of Meritor WABCO-branded products to its Meritor All-Makes Air Systems Program.

The new offering includes air valves and an AD-9 style air dryer cartridge.

The All-Makes Program was launched earlier this year and provides a portfolio of new, outright or core-free, and remanufactured all-makes air valves, air compressors, air dryers and cartridges, and air hose assemblies.

The announcement was made at the Mid-America Trucking show.

The Meritor WABCO-branded valves and cartridge provide a direct replacement option without piping changes for tractor, truck, bus and trailer applications.

Chairman and CEO Chip McClure has his eyes set on tripling the company’s aftermarket business over the next three years and said his executive team is currently evaluating every process, product and facility in a search for growth and cost savings.

Meritor WABCO is a joint venture of ArvinMeritor, and the WABCO Vehicle Control Systems business of American Standard Companies Inc.

ArvinMeritor has also introduced new global hub reduction axle family of single and tandem rear axles for the heavy haul and construction, refuse, logging, concrete, mining vocational markets.

The axles – offered first for the Asian market and available in North America in early summer 2007 – offer a wide ratio range to meet the needs of virtually any on-/off-highway application, as well as a host of suspension adaptations and brake offerings.

“We continue to expand and upgrade our portfolio of products to meet the ever-changing market requirements. This new global family of hub-reduction axles offers ratios ranging from a fast 3.61:1 to 7.21:1 to meet the higher road speed requirements that our OE and vocational customers have demanded,” said Larry Dowers, general manager, product strategy, ArvinMeritor.

Key features of the new fully dressed axle assembly, including:

Fabricated housing: For a lightweight, high-capacity design in both single and tandem configurations and can support a variety of suspension requirements.

Weight savings: Up to 600 lbs. depending on model selection.

Streamlined carrier design – for increased ground clearance for improved mobility.

Proven four-planet wheel-end hub-reduction gearing: For higher capacity ratings and superior performance. The single axle is rated at 26,000-35,000 lbs. GAWR, and the tandem is rated at 52,000-70,000 lbs. GAWR.

Needle-bearing design throughout the interaxle differential: Provides spinout protection and eliminates the need for a lube pump.

Driver-Controlled Differential Locks (DCDLs): Standard in both the forward and rear axle for increased traction when needed.

Optimized driveline angles: To reduce harsh driveline angle vibrations for longer axle life.

ArvinMeritor also announced at MATS that it plans a stronger focus on its remanufacturing business.

The remanufacturing enterprise – under the leadership of Doug Wolma, general manager for ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) remanufacturing business, and a nationwide dedicated sales force – will direct an ongoing growth plan of enlarging its portfolio of OEM-specification remanufactured components to its North American customers, the company announced.
