Road to Killarney a total washout (November 01, 2001)

KILLARNEY, Ont. – The lone road accessing this Georgian Bay vacation community was cut by a veritable wall of water that rolled through here near the end of September.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers say they closed Hwy.s 6 and 37 after torrential downpours washed out a section of the solitary road threatening the safety of truckers and motorists alike.

It was not known when the roadway would be reopened again, but one OPP official suggests it will likely be closed “for a very long time.” –
