Trucker helps put out car lot fire
GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. – A passing truck driver is being commended for preventing a disaster after he helped extinguish a fire at a Ford dealership here on Aug. 10.
An electrical fire began behind a sign at the dealership, and trucker Richard Gaudet saw the fire as he drove by on 132 Avenue. Gaudet parked his rig, grabbed a fire extinguisher from his truck and began fighting the flames while fire crews were on their way to the scene.
City firefighters say the trucker was instrumental in slowing the spread of the fire, which could have been much worse. n
