Bison president to carry Olympic Torch today
WINNIPEG, Alta. — Bison president Don Streuber will be partaking in a historic event and enjoying a personal milestone today as he carries the Olympic Torch.
Streuber will carry the torch at approximately 6:23 pm westbound on Portage from the main branch of the Royal Bank (1 block west of Portage and Main) along Portage to the Shopper’s Drug Mart in Portage Place. Wearing a white track suit, he will carry the torch for 300 metres.
Aside from the obvious historical significance of the run, it is also of personal significance to Streuber, who was involved in a serious car accident just three years ago.
“I am viewing this run as a symbol of my miraculous healing,” Streuber says.
Streuber has purchased the torch he will be carrying and it will be on display in his Bison Transport office on Wednesday morning.
