Covenant Transport offers FIT in-cab workout system to drivers

PORTLAND, Ore. — Freightliner has announced Covenant Transport has become one of the first major fleets to order its FIT in-cab exercise system.

Covenant will make the system available to its drivers, providing a way for them to work out while on the road. The carrier will use it as a reward and incentive program for its drivers, Freightliner announced.

Developed with Rolling Strong, the FIT system is the first OEM-designed and integrated in-cab exercise system. It provides easy and convenient full-body strength and conditioning exercises.

“Wellness employee initiatives are not new to Covenant Transport. We have been working with all of our employees to develop an intense program that provides the tools, coaching and incentives to motivate good health,” said Joey Hogan, president of Covenant Transport. “The FIT system extends our healthy programs and helps keep our professional drivers safe and healthy.”

Covenant has branded one of its tractors the Driver Wellness Workout Truck. An on-site health coach uses the workout truck to train drivers on how to use the system.

“Driver wellness is an important industry concern, and we’re seeing many of our customers launch programs that support and educate their workforce on making healthy choices,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “We applaud Covenant Transport for adopting the FIT System and taking such a proactive approach to healthy lifestyles, and for being part of the solution.”

  • Kudoos to Covenant! I know of several companies that have tried to improve their drivers health. The incentive has to come from the driver, walking was always free and I tried to do a few laps around the parking lot several times a week. However when a driver is too lazy to walk to the restroom or the garbage bin its going to be difficult to get this driver to exercise anywhere.
    The big complaint I heard was having no time to do these things, and then
    a lot of drivers complained about having to take 10 hours off in the U.S. because “who needs to sleep 10 hrs”. Why not use an hour of this off duty time to walk?
    We need to take ideas from some of the drivers who work at keeping themselves healthy and have less doom and gloom regarding the OTR lifestyle.
    I had days when lunch was a chocolate bar and supper was a can of beans (eaten out of the can) but that wasn’t a daily habit.
    Living in the trucks today is a far cry from the ones we drove in “the good old days” we should try to enjoy it more.

    Eat less walk more and do sit ups in the bunk.

  • The question I have HOW are they going to get the FIT system? I have been trying for 5 months to buy this system for my truck and they will not respond to me. Personally I think they are a fraud looking to scam money!!!!!
