Bison’s Garth Pitzel takes home TCA award

FORT WORTH, Texas – Garth Pitzel of Bison Transport has been presented the 2016 Clare C. Casey Professional of the Year award by the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA).

Pitzel is the director of safety and driver development with Bison and has been with the Winnipeg, Man.-based trucking company since 1994. He received the award May 23 during the TCA’s Safety and Security Division Annual Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas.

The award is given to the individual whose actions and achievements have had a profound and positive benefit or contribution to better safety on highways.

Pitzel has been actively involved in the promotion of the trucking industry and workplace safety initiatives, appearing at industry-related events and offering his expertise. He is also involved with the TCA’s school committee and held several leadership roles with the safety and security division.

Pitzel is also a member of the Saskatchewan Trucking Association’s board of directors, Qualcomm’s safety advisory board, the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce transportation board and was inducted into the Manitoba Trucking Association’s Pioneer Club.
