WINNIPEG, Man. – The deadline is fast approaching to get applications in for the Manitoba Trucking Association’s (MTA) awards and scholarships.

Each year the MTA offers $10,000 for academic and apprenticeship awards to employees or dependents of its member companies.

Academic awards include one for the Edward M. Ewanochko Transportation Scholarship Award ($500) and the Winnipeg Transportation Club Scholarship ($500), and three for the Associated Trades Division Scholarship ($1,000 each).

Apprenticeship awards include the Associated Trades Division Award, which is handed out to two MTA member company employees, one for the individual who achieves the highest mark on their Level 2 exam in the Manitoba Truck Transport Mechanic division, and the other for the one who gets the highest mark in the Transport Trailer Technician Apprenticeship program.

The other apprenticeship award is the Vehicle Maintenance Council Award, where two scholarships are given, one for the highest mark on the Level 1 exam in the Manitoba Truck Transport Mechanic division, the other for the highest mark in the Transport Trailer Technician Apprenticeship program.
