by Truck News

PARIS, Ont. – Commercial drivers are being asked by organizers of the Paris, Ont. portion of the World’s Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics to ‘join the party’ at this year’s event and celebrate everyone in the trucking industry.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Paris Fair Grounds with a truck driver and sponsor appreciation buffet prepared and served by Mike Millian of the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada and Alexis Barr of the Paris Truck Convoy culinary team.

Special guests include Mike and Diane Fairhall (Smokey and the Bandit), with attendees able to test their knowledge of the classic film during a trivia contest to win prizes, including a safe-driving course from Northbridge Insurance valued at $500.

There will also be an antique truck display featuring 16 locally owned vintage trucks, a truck light show and Saturday entertainment from singer Erick Traplin and Freeway the Clown for youngsters.

The Top 12 drivers with the most in sponsorship pledges for this year’s convoy will be announced at 10 p.m. and the driver who earns lead position in the convoy.
